Activities

Club Events that we have organised as a club and                                                       others we think you might be interested in attending.

November 2019       Sunday 17th, 10.00 amThe Leonberger Club Ribbon Parade, RDA Arena, 8 Alpha Street Cmbridge.                                                                                                                                                        What’s a Ribbon Parade you might ask. Simple answer is it’s a dog show for beginners, an introduction. But we are far more relaxed about Ribbon Parades and want it to be fun day for you and your magnificent pet, without the stress and without the seasoned show dogs. You get a taste of the show world without the fuss and it also gives the Judge (Paul Goodwill) some hands-on Leonberger experience. Both outcomes we see as a WIN WIN. We will also have a couple of fun classes
All dogs are welcome (and NO, your contract ‘Must Not Be Shown’ does NOT apply in this instance) Bring them all, the short, tall, spayed, neutered, young, old and everything in between.  All welcome

  • When: Sunday. November 17 2019
  • Where: RDA Arena, 8 Alpha Street, Cambridge
  • Time: Registrations from 10.00am (judging to begin at 11am)
  • Entries: $5
  • Bring: Your beautifully groomed Leo’s. A crate if you have one – it gets tiring holding a dog on lead all day. Folding Chair/s – rest your legs. Shared lunch – fingure food

Remeber – absolutely no show experience is required. This is a fun day out and gives our judge some hands on experience with Leonbergers.

We will do a nice lead walk through the Redwood Forest and followed by a fun walk through the off lead park to the river for a swim and then back again.

We will follow the walk with a shared Xmas lunch (so please bring a plate to share) with a BBQ available. This will be at Rosemarie’s, 106 Waimangu Road – all welcome. This is a great opportunity to catch up and socialise with other people who love their dogs and spread some Christmas cheer.

December 2019       Saturday 14th, 10.30 amSpecial Needs Christmas Party, Auckland Showgrounds, Greenlane.                                                                                                                                         This is an event for special needs children and their families where they are treated to a day of celebrity stage shows, fun rides, interactive games, plenty of yummy food, face painting and animals including dogs. The dogs attending need to be pretty bomb proof/non-reactive as it’s very, very noisy (kids screaming, live performances, police and ambulance sirens) but lots of fun and the dogs get oodles of cuddles. There is a sponsors lounge open for refreshments upstairs and the dogs are welcome too. If you would like to be involved in the event to help put a smile on their faces please contact Michelle on michelle.r@windowslive.com or 021644943 as numbers/attendance will need to be confirmed and co-ordinated. You do not need to stay for the entire day and can attend for as little or as much time as you can manage. The doors open at 10.45am.
