Club Events that we have organised as a club and others we think you might be interested in attending.
November 2018 Sun 4th – 10am Club Romp Pegasus Beach, (25km North of Christchurch). Meet in the Surf Club car park for a beach walk (NB, not the lake but the actual beach) at the end of the unnamed road, off Tiritiri Moana Drive. Come and let your Leo’s have a romp along the beach and have a splash in the sea. There are shady forest areas too so if it gets too sunny we can retire to the shade under the trees. Bring a thermos for a cuppa afterwards and don’t forget water for dogs. Contact Sarah for more information on email@example.com
November 2018 Sun 11th – 10.30am Club Walk – Golden Sands Beach, Papamoa Beach. There is a lovely walk along the stream with plenty of opportunities for the dogs to have a swim. Lots of off street parking by the Henry and Ted Cafe’ which is a short walk away or ample roadside parking (very wide road). Everyone will meet at the entrance way to the walking path by 39 Golden Sands Drive. Bring your thermos, something yummy to share if you want or just hang around afterwards with everyone and have a good catch up. There are no seats so you might want to bring a chair or blanket to sit on.
November 2018 Sun 18th – 11am Club Walk -AK Botanical Gardens, Manurewa. Meet in front of the main entrance building
November 2018 Sun 24th – 10am – 2pm German Christmas Market, Auckland. This is an opportunity to share our lovely dogs while sitting, chatting and getting plenty of dog cuddles. December 2018 Sat 15th – (tba) Special Children’s Christmas Party – Greenlane, Auckland. This is an event for special needs children and their families where they are treated to a day of celebrity stage shows, fun rides, interactive games, plenty of yummy food, face painting and animals including dogs. The dogs need to be pretty bomb proof/non-reactive as it’s very, very noisy (kids screaming, live performances, police & ambulance sirens) but lots of fun and the dogs get oodles of cuddles. There is a Sponsors lounge open for refreshments upstairs and the dogs are welcome too. If you would like to be involved in this event to help put a smile on their faces please contact Michelle on email@example.com or 021 644 943 as numbers/attendance will need to be confirmed and co-ordinated. You can view photos and clips from prior years here: http://www.sccpnz.co.nz/auckland.html
March 2019 Sun 24th – 12 noon Club Walk at Onehunga Reserve. This is a great off leash park with a lagoon for the dogs to swim in. (Directions: Bottom of Beachcroft Ave, Onehunga. Coming North, head on m/way 20 to Onehunga, come off at Neilson St exit, around to left and straight on as if you are going to the Mall, turn left into Princes St which takes you to bottom of Beachcroft. Coming South come off at Neilson St exit, turn left in Selwyn, left again into Princes and straight ahead.)
March 2019 Mid March TBC Ribbon Parade/Mini Field Day, Cambridge, Discussion at our last committee meeting resulted in a decision to organise a “Mini Field Day” event as our next big project and fundraiser. This would be a Leonberger related event of course that could perhaps have a selection of Merchandise stands, Services e.g. massage and some demonstrations e.g. grooming. We are following that idea up, contacting suppliers and other breed clubs and hope to keep you all updated with progress reports. This is a completely NEW concept for the club but could be a winner so watch this space!
July 2019 TBC Club Championship Show. This event is still being coordinated so the date, location and time will be provided as details become available.
